Guided by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between LLRM Meerut and RAAHI in July 2025, the initiative will establish a hospital and follow-up program that:
- Keeps mothers and babies together in a dedicated 10-bed stepdown KMC unit inside the NICU.
- Provides intensive counselling for breastfeeding, expressed milk feeding, Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), thermoregulation, and danger sign recognition.
- Supplies essential items: KMC wraps, feeding cups, thermometers, weighing scales.
- Follows up after discharge via phone calls until the baby reaches 44 weeks post-menstrual age, ensuring early detection of health problems and promoting exclusive breastfeeding.
